A couple of weeks ago my daughter found herself locked inside a room due to a broken doorknob. I was on the outside of the room, and she was on the inside. As we tried several different solutions unsuccessfully, both of our minds started to wonder how long she would have to remain trapped.
As time passed, she said, “Mom, it will be okay, I know Dad will be home later and he will be able to help get me out.” Although her circumstances were not pleasant, she was calm and had absolute confidence he would have a solution. I was touched that she had so much faith and trust in her earthly father. I realized that this faith was built over several years of having a personal relationship with him.
In life we sometimes find ourselves in situations where we feel trapped and we don’t have the answers. Sometimes we are up against tough circumstances. I don’t have all the answers, but I do know that having a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father brings peace and comfort even if our situation isn’t immediately changed. Eventually as we turn to Him, He can lead us in the direction we need to go. In Doctrine and Covenants 88:63 it states “Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive, knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
I am very grateful for the opportunities I have had to turn to Him and to see His hand in my life and to feel His love.
